A fine day, mostly sunny. Good walking weather and some splendid views
Plenty of snow on Swirl How as the A walkers (without Derek) make a wide circuit around Wetherlam and the Old Man

Nothing like a small gauge railway for bringing out the small child... | Meanwhile in another part of the (Grisedale) forest, Derek was on a lone detour

The B+ walk first headed up to Tarn Hows, around the Tarn, then down the beck and its waterfalls towards Yew Tree Tarn. We then took the scenic route up over Holme Fell and back down into Yewdale. From there most of us opted for an extra climb over Yewdale Fells, with a couple of dissenters returning along the lower fellside path.

Coniston Water from the top of Holm Fell | After dropping down into the valley again, most of us voted for a third climb, up over Yewdale Fells | That's the wrong way down!
Things were a bit too exciting for a while | That's what we scrambled down (White Gill)
The B- walk did an anti-clockwise circuit of about 10 miles, with total ascent of about 1300 ft mostly from the start of walk. From Coniston we headed NW to Crowberry Haws via Miners Bridge, then S onto Walna Scar Road past some interesting quarries. Then on to Torver, and the Cumbria Way for a leisurely 2.5 mile walk along the Lakeside path back to Coniston.
